The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India (GOI) has established National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organisation for conducting efficient, transparent and international standard test in order to access the competency of candidates for admission to premier higher education institutions. 

NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG) {(NEET (UG)} will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses and other undergraduate medical courses in approved/recognized Medical/Dental & other Colleges/ Institutes in India. 

Section 14 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 provides for holding of a common and uniform National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to the undergraduate medical courses in all medical institutions including those governed under any other law. Thus, the admission to MBBS course in AIIMS, New Delhi, JIPMER and all AIIMS like Institutions will be made through NEET. The eligibility criteria applicable to appear in NEET (UG) shall also be applicable to the candidates desirous to take admission to INIs like AIIMS. 

Similarly, the criteria for minimum qualifying marks to be eligible for admission to MBBS course shall also be applicable to INIs. Further, the common counseling for admission to MBBS course in these INIs shall be conducted by the DGHS as per the Time Schedule specified in the MCI’s regulations. 

 The responsibility of the NTA is limited to the conduct of the entrance examination, declaration of result and for providing an “All India Rank Merit List” to the Directorate General Health Service, Government of India for the conduct of counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats and for providing the result to States/other Counselling Authorities.

Can I appear for NEET exams if I have a year gap between class 11 & 12?Yes, you can appear for NEET exams with a year gap. The previously set out amendment by the MCI was revoked by Delhi High Court wherein now candidates with a gap of a year can appear for NEET 2020
I have crossed 25 years of age, can I take up NEET 2020?Officials have uprooted the rule on upper age limit, where there is no such cap now. Hence, candidates must meet the lower age limit of 17 years compulsorily however, there is no restriction on the upper age limit. But, all other criteria should be met
What are the basic eligibility criteria for NEET 2020?Candidates must ensure they meet the following criteria compulsorily:

I made online payment, but my confirmation page has not been generated yetThis is due to the bank server connectivity issue. If you face this issue, it is recommended to wait for at least 24 hours. If it is not yet generated, pay the fee once again and take a printout of the confirmation page. Excess amount will be refunded automatically into the same account from where the amount was remitted. Contact the bank if the issue still persists
When I was to submit my application form, my session was displayed as expired when I tried to submit it consequently the form was left unsubmitted. What to do?Candidates must ensure that they submit the application form within a maximum time span of 30 minutes as session expires immediately after 30 minutes. Save one part of the form as a draft continue this similarly before starting a new one. This way, data is not lost. It is recommended to keep the required data handy before commencing
What is the proof for fee payment made to the NTA for NEET 2020?Generation of confirmation page means the fee is successfully paid. Details of the payment will be given in the bottommost part of the confirmation page
How will I get proof of the fee paid to NTA for NEET?After filling out the form the appearance of confirmation page indicates payment of fee.
Should I upload a photo with white background, date and name at the bottom?Previously it was compulsory to upload a passport size photo with a white background along with date and name at the bottom of the picture. The latest official notification on the same indicates that officials have declared that photos without name and date would also work
Can I draw out my NEET application form and hence candidature? Would I get a refund?Application once submitted can not be drawn out. The application fee is not refundable.

NEET FAQs – Correction Window

Which fields can be edited in the correction window?NTA provides the correction window facility once the application form filling concludes. Only some fields can be rectified such as – birthplace, question paper medium, choice of NEET exam cities, address, academic details, parents’ name
Can class 12 qualifying code be edited in the NEET application form?Yes, the qualifying code can be edited. Login credentials should be used for the same
Can I change/update my photograph through the correction window?Those candidates who have uploaded a blurry image will be informed through mail to upload a clear image as per the specifications laid down by the NTA. These images must be uploaded within the specified time period. Login credentials are sufficient to upload a passport size photo
Will my application be rejected if I upload an image with no name and a white background?Officials have issued a notice that photos without name, date or white background will not be rejected
In the application form, can address be changed?Address can be edited through the NEET correction window facility. One must use login credentials to make this change
In the already submitted form, can the language preference be changed?No, the option of language once submitted can not be changed. This is because allotment of centres is carried out basis the medium of the question paper

What would state of eligibility be if class 10 and class 12 both are studied in different states?It is not a matter of concern as candidates can apply to any state except J&K for AIQ seats in NEET 2020. NEET FAQs – Answer Key

Are there any differences between the answer key released by coaching institutes and the official set of answer keys?Yes, there is a difference. The official set of answer keys is released by the NTA whereas the ones released by coaching institutes may not be as accurate as the official ones. These answer keys are released just so students get an approximate score. However, these cannot be considered as the final ones
I obtained a certain rank as per the answer key released by a coaching institute. How accurate is the rank?One needs to ensure not to consider these as the final ranks/scores. This is just for one to get an idea, an approximate figure. Candidates must wait until the final set of answer keys are released officially by the NTA. In any case of discrepancy, you can then challenge the question. The claim for each question is Rs.1000/-

NEET FAQs – Result

What is percentile rank?It is the percentage of a score falling below a particular score in a group. It can be calculated as provided below:

Does NTA release the NEET result 2020 and state merit list together?No. Only the NEET results will be announced. State merit list will not be released on the day of result declaration. Candidates selected under the 15% AIQ category are eligible to take part in the counselling process. The state counselling officials use NEET scores to generate the state merit list for candidates seeking admissions under the 85% state quota. Basis the merit rank in the state rank list, admissions will be allowed to the medical institutes.
What to do if my NEET result 2020 does not get me admission to a good medical college? Not willing to drop a year one more time.If this is the case, you can still wait for the state merit list to be released. But you have to apply for 85% state quota seats if you are domicile of that state.This is why, during mock tests, candidates are recommended to drop a year, attempt next time aiming for higher than 580 as a score. As dropping a year is a harder decision, students will be boosted to perform well in exams, serving as a push.
